Other Knives
Material Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance.
Sharpness 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing.
Craftsmanship Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency.
Corrosion Resistance
Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use.
Edge Retention Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups.

Questions? We Have Answers

Was unterscheidet WÜSTHOF von anderen Marken?

Was ist Precision Edge Technology (Petec)

Reviews

Best kitchen knife I’ve owned!

"I love everything about this knife! The feel in hand is amazing. The edges of the handle are smooth where I want it and grips in the right places. The blade is slightly weighted toward the handle, which makes me feel like I have better control. The construction is absolutely master-class. I couldn’t be happier!"

Coral Perfection

"This knife is an absolute stunner out of the box and magnificently sharp. Great for slicing and chopping an extremely broad amount of foods. Blade seems to be standing up well to hard everyday work in a busy kitchen environment. Coming with instructions on how to polish the brass rivets as well is a plus. The handle is solid and has a lovely weight to it, giving more precision on your board. Can't love it enough and already saving up for several complimentary Wusthof knives for career."

Replacement Knife

"Loved my original knife which actually split on its own. This was a warranty issue, Not sure how it happened, but I wish someone had an idea and informed me what they think happened. Received my replacement knife worked like the first one and I was totally satisfied with your warranty process."

— Wendell P. (5/5)

Wusthof Is The Best

"This is the 4th knife we've purchased from Wusthof and we are completely satisfied with the quality. All 4 are very sharp, stay sharp and never chip."

— Jerry (5/5)

Good Knife - NOT the same as the Classic

"This is a good knife. It felt "off" in my hand. I've been using the Wusthof classic 8" style knives since 1986. This one with the white handle was labeled "classic" but laying over another knife, the angle front the heel to the tang is different. The tip to but is about 3/8" longer, & the scales are longer and wider than my old knives. It's still got the full heel like my other classics... But after +/- 40 years, I can tell this one is NOT on spec. I'm sure I'll get used to it. but it's not going 1st in my rotation for sure. I won't buy another one "site unseen" from now on. This has NEVER been an issue in the past. One reason I don't use Henkle is because of these types of variations. I'm dissappointed."

All perfect ! Best knife

"All perfect ! Best knife I have ever seen!"

Sharp out of the box

"It’s a solid well made knife that will be easier to sharpen than my harder Japanese & Damascus style knives I’m not a professional chef and it won’t be heavily used; but for harder vegetables etc, I’m hoping it will be a good option , although it’s too early to say"

— David M. (4/5)

Excellent Knife

"I really needed to upgrade my knives and so glad I decided to try Wustof! I just wish I purchased everything at the same time to use the initial discount😜. I love that sone of the knives come in colors pink is my fave so far. I went back and got the 9in, parer and bread knives along with a new sharpener, poultry shears and regular scissors. My new go to brand"

— Kimberly A. (5/5)

A gift thar keeps giving

"Received my first one as a gift 19 years ago andchavecadded 4 others to my collection. These 2 original handles cracked. Contacted company, sent them back and got credit for these new one. A great product means standing by it. Great knives. Great company."

— John A. (5/5)

Q&A

Can I use a hollow chef knife for cutting up acorn squash or would the regular chef knife be better?
It wouldn't make a difference whether you use a "normal" chef's knife or one with indentations.
My knife fell and broke, the blade broke a couple of cm from the handle. I have never see. A knife do this before. Is this covered under warranty? I have only had this knife for less than 2 years
We're so sorry to hear about what happened to your knife! Please contact our Customer Support Team at +1-800-289-9878 or by email at info@wusthof.com so that we can assist you with your warranty claim.
What degree angle to sharpen model 4582?
Our Classic 8" Chef's Knife should be sharpened to a 14.5-degree angle at the edge.
