Product Details
Whether finely slicing, quickly chopping, or precisely mincing – the Rotoku masters every task with dynamic versatility. The wide blade offers perfect control and also serves as a practical tool: slice, load, and conveniently transport ingredients to a pan, pot, or bowl.
The Rotoku is the evolution of the classic Santoku – an exclusive invention from WÜSTHOF. With its curved cutting edge, it enables chopping with a flowing, rocking movement that would not be possible with a straight Santoku blade. It simultaneously extends the ‘three virtues’ of the santoku (working on meat, fish, and vegetables) with three more: chopping, mincing, and transporting. Six virtues – one knife. The name ‘Rotoku’ is derived from the Japanese number ‘roku’ (meaning ‘six’) – it’s a masterpiece that combines elegance and functionality.
The dimples (small indentations) along the blade form air cushions that help prevent ingredients from sticking to the blade – for maximum efficiency.
The blade with our jet black, ultra-hard Diamond-Like Carbon (DLC) performance finish glides precisely and effortlessly through both soft and hard ingredients, thanks to its exceptional and almost frictionless smoothness.
The slip-resistant handle with our Hexagon-Power-Grip© structure and half bolster design guarantees excellent control with each movement.
WÜSTHOF Performer – the knife for the perfect slice.

---|---|---|
Material | Premium forged steel engineered for lasting strength and corrosion resistance. | Often stamped or made from standard steel blends that may sacrifice durability or rust resistance. |
Sharpness | 20% sharper than standard knives, thanks to laser-guided PEtec technology. | Factory-sharpened blades that start strong but dull faster and lack precision honing. |
Craftsmanship | Hand-finished in Solingen, Germany with 200+ years of expertise and precision in every detail. | Mass-produced or partially outsourced craftsmanship that lacks the same heritage and consistency. |
Corrosion Resistance | Exceptional rust resistance for a blade that stays beautiful for decades. | Prone to staining or rust if not carefully maintained—especially with frequent kitchen use. |
Edge Retention | Stays sharper twice as long as ordinary knives, reducing the need to re-sharpen. | Edges wear faster over time, requiring more frequent sharpening and touch-ups. |
Lifetime Warranty | Lifetime warranty – a promise backed by generations of quality. | Lifetime coverage may exist, but with less transparency and variable service depending on the brand. |
